Realtors play an important role in protecting the health of families purchasing and moving into homes.  Childhood Lead Poisoning is the most common pediatric public health problem. Lead harms children’s nervous systems and is associated with reduced IQ, behavioral problems, and learning disabilities. Lead paint in homes built before 1978, along with lead dust and debris from improper renovation of properties built before 1978 is the most common source of lead exposure. 73% of Connecticut’s housing stock  was built before 1980.
